Our company was established in 2007 in response to industry demand for certain products and services (principally publications, ongoing seminars, curricula, and industry learning tools) that could not be offered through the respective law practices of the principals of the company.

As co-founders of TradeSchoolExpert.com, it has been both our pleasure and our challenge to routinely dispense legal and regulatory advice to schools  that provide vocational training i.e. skilled workers, hospital workers, and those classified under the National Occupation Classification system. As advisors to much of the private career college sector in Ontario, we pride ourselves on helping schools comply with the legislation to try to meet the existing demands of the labour market.

Harris M. Rosen

Harris M. Rosen

Harris is a capital partner with a prominent Toronto law firm. His practice is almost exclusively devoted to the representation of private career colleges. He has acted for various private career college industry associations at the provincial and national level.

Since his Call to the Bar in 1994, he has headed up a regulatory department in a public company, engaged in private practice, and raised venture capital to co-create a revolutionary consumer-friendly credit product.  In 2001 Harris was nominated for Entrepreneur of the Year (Ernst and Young, Entrepreneur of the Year Awards).

Harris has had considerable experience in administrative, regulatory and corporate matters.  His clients have included large Fortune 100 Companies as well as a diverse number of small and medium-sized businesses. He has represented clients in a broad array of matters including privacy issues, creditor proposals, commercial disputes, tax fairness, administrative law and credit reporting.

He is a frequent speaker and is a co-author of the loose-leaf publication entitled Annotated Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 and Regulations (Carswell Legal Publishers). As a dedicated tennis player at a competitive level, Harris brings the same discipline and spirit to the practice of law.

Alan entered into the private practice of law after 25 years as a legal director in the Ontario Public Service where he served under three different governments. Prior to his retirement in 2003, Alan was the Director of the Legal Services Branch for both the Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities and the Ministry of Education. As director, Alan led a team of lawyers and educators that provided legal services and strategic advice with respect to policy development, legislative drafting, litigation and media relations.

In 1993, Alan was honoured with the Amethyst Award for outstanding performance in the Ontario Public Service. In 1981, in recognition of his accomplishments, he was appointed Queen's Counsel.

His publications have been diverse and he has been a guest speaker and panelist at numerous conferences and workshops in the private and public sectors. He is co-author of the Annotated Private Career Colleges Act, 2005 and Regulations (Carswell Legal Publishers).

Alan's legal practice focuses primarily on private career colleges. His law practice takes him to the Far East, including China and Mongolia. As well, he serves as a Government Relations and Education Law Consultant to clients who need assistance in dealing with various government ministries and public agencies. Alan has acted as Trustee of investigations for the Ontario Human Rights Commission.
